A little about me...

When it comes to my art, emotions are my inspiration. And when I capture a wedding in pictures, I’m inspired by every single moment. The drama and power of photography has captivated me all my life. From the first moment I explored Portland’s monthly gallery exhibits to the first time I developed prints myself, I knew my future was carving its space: I would be a professional photographer.

In 2007, I began shooting weddings. The excitement and energy of each event is intoxicating—and when I know I’ve captured the emotion of the moment, there’s no better feeling in the world. To get to that point, I start my journey with the bride and groom before I even pick up the camera. I’m inquisitive by nature, and understanding the details, design and style of a couple’s wedding can transform the tone of my images from beautiful to breathtaking.

I shoot a full range of photos, but “portraits” hold a special place in my heart. Portraits are intensely personal and can be incredibly rewarding for a photographer. When a mother looks at a portrait of her daughter and says “oh, that’s so her” with the slightest smile on her face, I know I’ve given them something special. When I shoot portraits of family and guests, I hope that they’ll feel amazing when they see themselves in print. To deliver such emotion is a gift for me, and if I’m doing my job right, it’s a gift to my clients, as well.

What I want for my clients is to bring every moment to life, to shape the story of their special day through my lens. I hope I can do exactly that for you.

Julie & Tom – Ebell, Los Angeles

One of my favorite parts of shooting the wedding day is hangin’ with the guys while they are “getting ready”. It’s a very different scene then that of the bride, that’s for sure. They mosey in, some already dressed, take about ten minutes to finish prepping the hair, put on each other’s cuff links, and are ready to go! It’s a great time to get to know the guys because they are usually super relaxed and just plain chill.

Some groomsmen are quiet, some are a little camera shy, but Kurt warned me that wouldn’t be the case with Tom. As Tom strolls into the house, taking each step, each movement as a chance to pose, I knew Kurt was beyond right. No joke, I could post so many photos of that morning, let alone the day, but I’ll keep it somewhat brief.

When I got to the Ebell, I was ready to find the girls. My first glance at Julie just made me smile. Not only did she look absolutely stunning, she was radiating excitement. I knew why! You can tell so much about them both from their first look…Tom & Julie’s families were a blast!  You know I have to capture the kids, happy…and not so happy.Kurt is the bomb at the bridal party photos. He comes up with the most artistic shots on the fly, I love watching him shoot. I knew he had that covered so I took a few from my view.So I REALLY try not to cry during the ceremony, first of all because I need to be shooting, second of all because its embarrassing. Well, at this one I may have shed a tear or two, but I was literally laughing out the loud too; it was amazing. This wedding overall was so much fun! The reception was classically beautiful, the toasts had my laughing and crying again, and the food was phenomenal. It was nice getting to know Julie better and to experience the wonderful people she surrounds herself with.
Thank you!  Also, I was really happy to have my dose of Lisa of Dolores Ann Events, she made the day just that much better!
